Mixing LEDs with incandescents (Christmas lights)?

I know that LEDs and incandescents are not supposed to be strung together, but can a string or two of incandescent lights (or an incandescent ornament) be plugged into the same outlet as LEDs? The top half of the outlet for LEDs and the bottom half for incandescents for example?
